Odoo CPQ: configure, price, quote
Odoo CPQ is Configure, Price, Quote on top of Odoo: sales assembles a configurable product, gets the right price automatically and issues a correct quote in one click - with the bill of materials native underneath. Standard Odoo covers variants and a basic configurator; for real CPQ we use CPQ Builder, which writes real Odoo records with no second system.
Does Odoo have a CPQ?
Partly. Standard Odoo has product variants, a basic product configurator and quotation templates in Sales - enough for simple choices. But for configurable products with complex rules, price build-up (tiers, cost price, options) and a bill of materials that has to reach production, you hit the limits. That is where we add CPQ Builder: an Odoo-native CPQ that runs on the standard API and writes real sales orders, bills of materials and production orders.
Configure, Price, Quote in practice
Configure: the salesperson - or the customer in the webshop - assembles the product within valid rules. Price: the price calculates along, including options, tiers and cost build-up. Quote: a correct quote rolls out with the right bill of materials underneath. No Excel, no impossible combinations, no forgotten extras. At IDD Parts and Decoflorall this runs live.
Why Odoo-native makes the difference
Most CPQ tools (Elfsquad, Mercura) are external systems that connect to Odoo from outside - a second place for product data, an integration that can break on upgrades. CPQ Builder is different: it writes directly into Odoo via the standard API, so quote, order, bill of materials and production stay one chain in one system. That is the whole point.
When do you need Odoo CPQ?
As soon as your products have too many options for a fixed variant list, your price depends on the configuration, or a quoting error carries through to production. Think machine building, furniture and interior, windows and doors, packaging and project-based quotes. If you only have a handful of fixed options, standard Odoo is enough - we say so honestly.

Frequently asked questions about Odoo CPQ
Does Odoo have a CPQ out of the box?
Odoo has variants, a basic configurator and quotation templates. For full CPQ (complex rules, price build-up, BOM into production) we add CPQ Builder, Odoo-native.
What is the difference with the Odoo product configurator?
A product configurator assembles the product; CPQ does that and calculates the price and produces the quote. CPQ is the broader quote-to-cash flow, with the configurator as one part.
Does CPQ Builder work in the Odoo webshop?
Yes. Customers configure in the webshop within your rules, and a correct order with a bill of materials rolls out - the same logic as for your own sales reps.
How does CPQ Builder compare to Elfsquad or Mercura?
Those are external systems that connect to Odoo. CPQ Builder is Odoo-native and writes real Odoo records, so there is no second system and no brittle integration. See the comparison.
What is Configure-to-Order (CTO)?
Configure-to-Order means you assemble and produce a product based on the configuration in the order - sitting between standard stock (make-to-stock) and fully bespoke design (engineer-to-order). CPQ and a product configurator are exactly the tools that make a CTO process work in Odoo: the order drives the bill of materials and production.
Does this work for project-based products (project configuration)?
Yes. For project products - where each order has its own assembly and bill of materials - we capture the product logic as rules in CPQ Builder, so the order directly yields the right bill of materials and production order. For heavier engineer-to-order (design per order) we combine that with Odoo PLM and Project.
Does the configurator work in a dealer or B2B portal?
